Back to the beach!

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

Hey, y’all!  This poodle’s headed back to the beach – finally. (Enough with the rain!)  I hope your weekend & summer are as good as mine’s shapin’ up to be.  Wooftastik!  ~Rusty~

PS — Dawgs, if you’re afraid of fireworks, ask your humans to stay home with you this weekend. Stay inside, maybe in the most insulated room in the house, with some background sound on so you can’t hear the fireworks as well.  Dig into a special, yummy chewy.  Or play fetch or tug with your people.  I know fireworks can be ruff for some of you, but you’ll be ok.  And, keep your cool:  Hit the beach or a pool!

A great weekend!

I hope you had as much fun as I did over the 4th! I wasn’t scared of the fireworks.  (But I did hear about poor Taz, the Santa Rosa police-dog, a Belgian Malinois, who was left alone outside where he could hear illegal fireworks.  He got so scared he escaped his yard, but fortunately was found wandering by a nice lady & returned to his “dad”.  Watch & read Taz’s story.  Whew!)

We went to the beach, went sightseeing up the coast, and then fired up the Cheezeburger Machine.  What more could you ask for?!  I do have one thing to confess:  I used to growl @ my people to get them to throw a ball or feed me, and it always worked.  But my new “parents” taught me that only calm silence pays off.  I was really good for most of dinner, but @ the end, I completely forgot my manners.  The ribs, corn-on-the-cob, & coleslaw wore me down!  So embarrassing…..     -Rusty-

(Left to right below: Views along the coast; Tim & the Cheezeburger Machine; and me being good on my bed (for awhile).  Then watch the video of my embarrassing loss of manners.  Ruff. )

5/30/10 poodle post

Elliott, my pal the corgi, wrote to me, with a little help from his mom:

My mother washed me down twice with a special solution, but I am sorry the skunk smell lasted for quite awhile.  I smell good now.  There are a lot of skunks roaming my street so my Mom only takes me for a walk in the daytime.  I think I get into trouble when a skunk comes up to my fence and I go to visit.

I asked Elliott what his mom used to help him smell better; I’ll let you all know as soon as I know!  Elliott also said:

That thunder really scared me.  I was asleep on my Mom’s bed and I jumped right on top of her chest.  She held me tight but I still shook for a long time……  Have a good weekend.  Your buddy, Elliott

I hope  Elliott feels braver on July 4th!  If your pet gets scared of thunder, fireworks or other things, talk to my mom.  She can help!
